This is a mail-in repair service. You must send your Xbox Wireless Controller to us for installation, calibration, and testing.

This service is compatible with:

• Xbox Wireless Controller Model 1914 — Xbox Series X|S

• Xbox Wireless Controller Model 1708 — Xbox One S / Xbox One X

You can usually find the controller model number inside the battery compartment.

Xbox Elite Controller Notice

This service is not compatible with Xbox Elite controllers.

Helton’s Computer Repair LLC does not currently provide TMR joystick replacement or repair services for Xbox Elite controllers.

What Is a TMR Joystick Upgrade?

TMR stands for Tunneling Magnetoresistance. TMR joystick modules use magnetic sensors to detect joystick movement instead of relying entirely on the traditional mechanical contact points found in standard analog joystick modules.

TMR joystick modules are designed to provide:

Joystick Replacement Options

Please include a note stating which joystick you want replaced.

Replacing both joystick modules at the same time may provide more consistent performance and reduce the chance of the remaining original joystick developing drift later.

How the Mail-In Service Works

1. Place your repair order.

2. Securely package and mail your controller to us.

3. Include your order number and a description of the problem.

4. We will inspect, repair, calibrate, and test the controller.

5. Once the repair is complete, we will email you an invoice.

6. After payment is received, we will return your controller with free return shipping.

What You Need to Send

Please send:

• Xbox Wireless Controller Model 1914 or Model 1708 only

• Your order number

• Your name, phone number, email address, and return shipping address

• A short description of the joystick problem

• A note stating whether you want the left joystick, right joystick, or both joysticks replaced

Please remove batteries, rechargeable battery packs, cables, adapters, headsets, and other accessories before shipping.

Important Service Notice

TMR joystick replacement can correct problems caused by worn or failed analog joystick modules.

Joystick problems may also be caused by motherboard damage, liquid exposure, corrosion, damaged traces, missing components, or previous repair attempts.

If additional damage is discovered, we will contact you with an updated estimate before completing any additional repairs.

Additional repairs will not be performed without your approval.

Calibration Notice

Each controller is calibrated and tested after the TMR joystick modules are installed.

TMR joysticks may feel slightly different from the original factory joystick modules. Minor differences in sensitivity or movement may be normal and do not necessarily indicate a problem with the repair.

Previous Repair Attempt Notice

Please let us know if another repair shop or technician has previously worked on the controller.

Controllers with lifted solder pads, damaged traces, missing components, modified wiring, corrosion, liquid damage, or incomplete previous repairs may require additional work and additional charges.

Parts Not Included

This service covers TMR joystick module replacement only.

The following parts are not included unless approved as an additional repair:

• Thumbstick caps

• Controller shell

• Buttons

• Bumpers

• Triggers

• Battery contacts

• Circuit boards

• Other internal components

Repair Time

Most TMR joystick upgrades are completed within a few business days after the controller arrives and is inspected.

Additional time may be required during holidays, weekends, periods of high repair volume, parts shortages, previous repair damage, or unforeseen circumstances.
